The SR-15 KS-1 Upper Kit is built around Knight’s latest evolution in their SR-15 series. Designed for professional-grade reliability and optimized for use with modern optics and suppressors, the KS-1 represents a refined balance of compact handling and sustained precision.

This upper assembly features a 13.7″ cold hammer forged, chrome-lined barrel, free-floated within the lightweight URX 6 M-LOK handguard. The assembly is topped with KAC’s 3-Prong QDC Flash Hider, ready to mount any of Knight’s 5.56 QDC suppressors. The result is a highly durable, smooth-shooting upper that excels in both confined and extended engagements.

Barrel

The KS-1’s 13.7″ dimpled heavy-profile barrel is chrome-lined and chambered in 5.56 NATO, delivering exceptional consistency and heat management through sustained fire. The mid-length gas system has been precisely tuned to ensure reliable cycling, reduced recoil impulse, and extended component life—particularly when running suppressed.

At the heart of the system is Knight’s proven E3.2 bolt design, which features dual ejectors and a reinforced extractor system. This geometry increases bolt longevity and maintains reliable function in adverse conditions, establishing the KS-1 as one of the most durable upper configurations available.

Handgaurd

The URX 6 handguard offers a rigid, self-indexing design with a full-length 12 o’clock MIL-STD 1913 rail and seven sides of M-LOK mounting slots. It aligns precisely with the upper receiver via an internal tab-and-slot system and secures with a retention nut that provides exceptional resistance to shift or impact. The streamlined profile eliminates external fasteners and snag points while maintaining perfect zero retention for mounted accessories.

Flash Hider

The KAC 5.56mm 3-Prong Flash Hider disrupts propellant gas combustion at the muzzle, greatly reducing visible flash. Its three-prong design eliminates ringing during firing and remains fully compatible with KAC’s 5.56mm QDC suppressors.
