The Knight’s Armament SR-15 KS-2 Upper Kit is the same upper assembly found on the SR-15 KS-2 Carbine. The KS-2 extends barrel length and dwell time to maximize ballistic efficiency and gas tuning, while maintaining the SR-15’s signature reliability and refinement.

The KS-2 features a 14.5-inch cold hammer forged, chrome-lined barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO, free-floated inside the URX 6 M-LOK handguard, and equipped with KAC’s 3-Prong QDC Flash Eliminator. Designed as a drop-in replacement compatible with any mil-spec lower receiver, the KS-2 upper provides a balanced, versatile foundation for professional or enthusiast rifle builds.

With the continued evolution of low-power variable optics and suppressor technology, the 14.5-inch configuration represents a refined midpoint between maneuverability and ballistic reach. The KS-2 upper embodies that balance—compact enough for close work while retaining energy and stability for mid-range engagements.

Barrel

The KS-2’s 14.5-inch cold hammer forged, chrome-lined barrel delivers consistent accuracy and durability under sustained fire. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, it utilizes Knight’s proprietary mid-length gas system for smooth recoil impulse and long-term reliability. The integrated E3.2 bolt system features dual ejectors and an enhanced extractor design that significantly increases service life and maintains reliable function in suppressed or adverse conditions.

Handgaurd

The URX 6 handguard offers a rigid, self-indexing design with a full-length 12 o’clock MIL-STD 1913 rail and seven sides of M-LOK mounting slots. It aligns precisely with the upper receiver via an internal tab-and-slot system and secures with a retention nut that provides exceptional resistance to shift or impact. The streamlined profile eliminates external fasteners and snag points while maintaining perfect zero retention for mounted accessories.

Flash Hider

The KAC 5.56mm 3-Prong Flash Hider disrupts propellant gas combustion at the muzzle, greatly reducing visible flash. Its three-prong design eliminates ringing during firing and remains fully compatible with KAC’s 5.56mm QDC suppressors.
